the Eternal — organization.
The mages of the world — seldom seen, wrapped in reverence and fear. People know that the Eternal exist and that magic holds sway over them; their appearing is an event. They are joined together in the Mages' Guild — an official institution, though a distant one for ordinary folk. One of them comes to the Combes for Inka's 'Goldie' and departs with her. It is commonly said that the Eternal do not die.
